Discover, Connect, and Learn Together: The Y Launches New Homeschool Programs

At the Twin Rivers YMCA, we believe learning doesn’t have to happen in one place or one way. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our new Homeschool Supplemental Programs—a fresh opportunity for local families to explore learning together in a fun, supportive environment.

With the help of a dedicated group of families in our community, we’ve designed programs that blend physical activity, creativity, and social connection. Starting this February, families are invited to join us for two free pilot sessions on February 4 and 11. These sessions are a chance to experience the excitement firsthand before the full program officially begins in March.

Each Wednesday from March through May, the Twin Rivers YMCA will host a variety of classes created to help children grow in body, mind, and spirit.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s offered:

  • PE for Ages 5–9 and 10+ – Fun and engaging activities that build coordination, teamwork, and confidence through movement.

  • Typing Class (Ages 10+) – Hands-on lessons that help students improve speed, posture, and accuracy while gaining valuable computer skills.

  • STEAM Projects (Ages 5–9) – Creative exploration in science, technology, engineering, art, and math through exciting hands-on projects.

“Our homeschool programs provide families with a supportive environment to learn, grow, and connect with one another,” shared Marissa Zinni, Community Impact Director at the Twin Rivers YMCA. “The Y has always been a place where learning and belonging come together, and we’re excited to extend that spirit to our homeschool community.”

These programs are more than classes—they’re a way for families to build friendships, foster curiosity, and experience the joy of learning in community.

Rooted in our mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, the Y continues to create spaces where every child and family can thrive.

Families interested in joining the free pilot sessions can reach out to Marissa Zinni (mzinni@trymca.org) or Justice Tomchesson (jtomchesson@trymca.org) for details.
