Meet the Trainers!
Janice Cox, Group Exercise Instructor/ Personal Trainer
I am a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor with 25 years of experience. Recently retired from the teaching profession, I continue to work in the fitness industry teaching classes and training individual clients. I have experience working with members who require modifications as well as those who desire core training with an emphasis on posture and balance.
Andi Grant, Personal Trainer
“It’s easy to be hard, it’s hard to be smart.“
A common saying among law-enforcement personnel, it’s translation is tricky. It’s easier and takes less time for one to bulldoze through a situation (being hard) without taking that time to learn skills and consult professionals to achieve your goal (that’s where the being “smart“ part comes into play.)
As a former Deputy United States Marshal, I learned smart is the way to go. Unless one has educated themselves on how muscle is created, how fat is lost, and how strength is gained, it’s smarter to work with a personal trainer who already has that knowledge.
As a US Marshal, I was the Fitness Advisor and coordinator in our San Diego and Miami districts. I am a graduate of the prestigious Cooper Institute in Dallas and am currently certified through ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association). I hold certifications from the American Council of Exercise(ACE) and the International Sports Medicine Association (ISMA) with nutrition certifications through ISSA and ISMA.
Additionally, I am a competitive figure athlete with the National Physique Committee (NPC).
Be “smart“ about your fitness journey and tap into my expertise to reach your goals.

Laura “Lou” Lewis, Instructor/Personal Trainer
My name is Laura Lewis, but everyone calls me Lou. I am a mother of three girls and four pups. When I am not spending time with my family, I enjoy spending time at the gym.
Since 2009, I have gained experience in the fitness industry and enjoy sharing my knowledge and expertise. Having successfully lost over 100 pounds myself, I understand the challenges people face on their fitness journeys. Being a certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer has been very rewarding, and I’m thrilled to have helped others lose hundreds of pounds. I am passionate about sharing my experience and providing effective tools to support and guide the community.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns.
Justice Tomchesson, Sr. Program Director/Trainer
Hello, YMCA members and family! My name is Justice and I have a passion for fitness and healthy habits. I have been coming to the YMCA since I was 4 or 5 years old to play basketball and have worked here off and on since I was 15 years old, serving as a referee, camp counselor, and now as the Senior Program Director overseeing our Sports and Health & Wellness initiatives. I have a degree in exercise science from North Carolina Wesleyan College and a master’s degree in kinesiology from East Carolina University.
I would love to work with you on your fitness goals and help you become the best possible version of yourself. Whether that be through the YMCA personal training program, or just stopping me in the hall to talk. I feel that I have the expertise and knowledge to help you. You just have to ask!
