As the holiday season approaches, what better way to kick off Thanksgiving than with a community event that combines fitness, family, and fun? The 17th Annual Twin Rivers YMCA Turkey Trot is back, and this year promises to be the best one yet! Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a way to be active before diving into that Thanksgiving feast, there’s something for everyone.

Why Turkey Trot?

Turkey Trots have become a beloved tradition across the country, bringing communities together for a day of health, happiness, and giving back. Our Twin Rivers YMCA event is no different—it’s more than just a race; it’s a celebration of wellness, family, and community spirit.

Here’s everything you need to know to join us on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Taberna Golf & Country Club (401 Taberna Way, New Bern, NC).

Event Details

This year’s Turkey Trot features three exciting events:

  • 5K: Perfect for families, casual runners, walkers, and even your furry friends! Whether you want to race competitively or take a leisurely stroll, this race has an option for you.
  • 10K: Tailored for the competitive runner, the 10K is a timed event that challenges participants to reach their personal best.
  • Kid’s Dash: A 40-yard dash for children 12 and under, offering a chance for the little ones to run, play, and win a medal. Each participant also receives a race t-shirt.

Registration Fees & Deadlines

Register early to save on race fees and secure your t-shirt size! Here’s the breakdown:

  • 5K: $33 (by October 31), $38 (from November 1), and $40 on Race Day.
  • 10K: $38 (by October 31), $43 (from November 1), and $45 on Race Day.
  • Kid’s Dash: $16

Registration prices include transaction fees. To guarantee a race shirt, register by October 11. Participants can opt for a dry-fit shirt for an additional $10, but make sure to register by October 11 to secure it.

Packet Pickup & Race Day Schedule

  • Packet Pickup: Monday, November 25, 11 AM – 3 PM, and Tuesday, November 26, 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM at Twin Rivers YMCA.
  • Race Day:
    • 10K registration/packet pickup: 6:00-7:30 AM (Start: 7:45 AM)
    • 5K registration/packet pickup: 6:00-7:45 AM (Start: 8:00 AM)
    • Kid’s Dash: 6:00-8:30 AM (Start: 9:15 AM)
    • Awards Ceremony: 8:45 AM

Awards & Prizes

We’ll be honoring the top 3 male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K. Additionally, awards will be presented by age group categories. Special awards will also go to the Best Dressed, as well as top participants in the Dog Jog and Stroller Run. Every child in the Kid’s Dash will receive a medal, making it a memorable experience for all participants!

If running isn’t your thing, you can still make a difference! We’re looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks before, during, and after the event. It’s a great way to connect with the community and support a wonderful cause. Supporting Our Community

Proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit the Twin Rivers YMCA Annual Campaign, which provides financial assistance for community programs such as swim lessons, summer camps, and YMCA memberships. By participating, you are helping us ensure that more people in our community have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
